Denise Iwaniw is heading up this year's food and clothing drive to benefit the families of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. She will be accepting donations at her Rockford home until Sunday, November 25.
There is a dire need for the following items:
- Warm clothing (sweaters, sweatshirts, thermal shirts/pants)
- Winter apparel (coats, hats, mittens, scarves)
- Canned/non-perishable foods
- Winters in this area can bring temperatures of -50 degrees and many families do not have adequate heating in their homes. In fact close to half of the homes on the reservation are not equipped with electricity or running water. With over 90% of the residents living below the federal poverty level, malnutrition is epidemic. Families often go without food on a regular basis. As Lightworkers we already know that the loving intentions of a few can add up to huge benefits to many. Here is another opportunity to let our lights shine! For more information on ways you can help contact Denise Iwaniw via email: priestessdana@charter.net
